For successful indoor cultivation of cannabis, it is necessary to understand how it grows and what its needs are. Whether indoor or outdoor, cannabis plants basically have the same requirements: they need water, air, nutrients, a planting medium, heat and light. If any of these basic essentials are missing, growth will stop and the cannabis plant can die quickly.
The air should be fresh and have the right temperature, the water (for watering) should be free of pollutants and have the right pH (6-6.8 on soil), there should be sufficient nutrients in the planting medium and it should have an airy and permeable structure.
For indoor cultivation, the appropriate equipment is necessary, otherwise it is not possible to create a natural climate indoors in which cannabis plants grow and, above all, achieve productive harvests. Unfortunately, without the necessary indoor setup, nothing will come of the fat, potent and resinous buds.
We have complete sets for you that contain everything you need for your indoor cultivation at an affordable price. This is the most cost-effective way to realise your dream of having your own indoor garden. After all, if you follow a few basic things when growing indoors, it is not difficult to achieve convincing results. Always keep in mind that no master has fallen from the sky and many growers need some time to make it work. This is quite normal and should not worry you. The most important thing to become a good grower is to stick with it and not to throw in the towel too quickly, only in this way will you develop and learn what to look out for.
This is definitely needed for indoor cultivation:
- Grow room or grow box/grow tent
- a fan with sufficient capacity, this depends on the
- Size of your grow room. You can find out more here.
- Activated carbon filter to eliminate the strong odour produced during flowering and avoid unwanted attention (safety!)
- Fan(s) for air circulation
- Planters (e.g. 1L, 3L, 7 L, 15 L)
- Cannabis fertilisers for flowering and for the growth phase
- Air hose to connect the fan and the activated carbon filter and to remove the old air from the growroom.
- Sodium vapour lamp consisting of a sodium vapour lamp (with 150W, 250W, 400W, 600W or 1000W), the matching ballast and a reflector for better distribution of the light, the wattage depends on your cultivation area and the financial means you want to raise. As a rule, the best results can be achieved with 400W and 600W lamps. Lamps with a lower wattage can also be used for small growing areas. You can find out more about light, types of lighting and the right light spectrum here.
- Possibly axial fan for the supply air
- Planting medium (soil recommended for beginners, rockwool, coco..)
There are many ways to grow cannabis indoors. The two main cultivation methods are: Growing on soil or hydroponic cultivation. Both methods have their advantages, for which they are appreciated. Grow methods such as Sea of Green (SOG) or Screen of Green (SCROG) are also often used and help to increase yields and control plant growth.
Most growers use grow boxes or grow tents for indoor cultivation, which are available ready to buy and can be set up quickly and easily. The climate in grow boxes is easy to control with a little equipment and good yields can be achieved reliably and safely. The inner walls are already equipped with reflective coating and thus ensure a good light distribution and reflection of light in the growing room. The glaringly bright and slightly to violently striking sodium vapour lamp light is "enclosed" in a finished grow box and cannot penetrate to the outside.
In the last few years and through our own research and experiments, many growing techniques and methods have been developed for indoor cultivation and have become established (Toppin, Super-Cropping, Lollypopping, FIM etc.). You can find out all about them in our big grow encyclopaedia. Many of these methods are aimed at increasing yields and optimal illumination of the cannabis flowers.
