Autoflowering Seeds or Automatic Seeds are a relatively new development in the field of cannabis seed breeding. Their fast cycle distinguishes them from conventional cannabis strains: from seed to maturity takes about 10 weeks, outdoor or indoor. There is no need to change the lighting duration, because the autflowering plant starts flowering automatically as the name suggests.
Autoflowering plants start flowering so regardless of the irrigation period. Grown from seed, the plants begin to develop flowers after about 3-4 weeks. It is not at all necessary to reduce the number of hours of light.
Autoflowering seeds usually produce small and short plants that are ideally suited for a sunny "quiet" corner in the garden, a small grow box or a bright windowsill space indoors. Since their introduction, autoflowering seeds have attracted a steadily growing interest in the cannabis growing community.
Since the autoflowering plants finish faster than conventional cannabis plants and become rather small and short, their yield is also correspondingly less. Of course, a plant that has a maturation period of 6 months will produce different yields than the smaller autoflowering plant. Some manufacturers are now releasing extremely mature autoflowering varieties that have quite satisfactory yields. About 50-100g yield can be expected from a very good autoflowering plant.

Automatic or autoflowering plants are:
- the fastest cannabis plants
- easy to grow
- have less yield than conventional varieties
- compact & easy to hide, also suitable for very small space: The plants do not grow higher than 50-70cm.
- independent of a change of the (daily) light cycle, this is not necessary!
- due to the short vegetation period and flowering time, outdoor cultivation is also possible in northern European countries, because the plants become completely ripe even within a short summer
- if the cultivation of cars is started already in the spring, can be harvested already in the middle of the summer.
The influence of cannabis ruderalis in the genetics of Automatic strains means that they are more resistant to cold temperatures, diseases and mold. Therefore, also suitable for cultivation in more northern regions.
Cultivation of automatic plants can really be done only from seed. The production of clones is not possible, because the plants enter the flowering phase too quickly.
