Successfully grow sativas indoors

how to grow sativas indoora, sativas indoors, growing tips

Tastes differ, while some cannabis lovers prefer indicas, others are more enthusiastic about sativas and their incomparable, energetic high. Sativas originate from the equatorial regions: Thailand, Cambodia, Jamaica, Mexico, etc. Many growers also choose a fine, balanced mix in consumption, taking advantage of the stimulating and euphoric sativa effects for daytime and the sedating and calming effects of the indicas for evening. For certain diseases, sativas or strains with sativa dominant genetics are particularly suitable for medicinal treatment and are therefore interesting for many growers.

Especially in summer, the social, fun, stimulating and creative effect of sativas is in high demand. It is not an easy thing to grow sativas indoors, especially for beginners but also for many experienced growers, because they are, among other things, more susceptible than indicas, more difficult to control in terms of size, react more sensitively to temperature fluctuations and require more time and care. Growing sativas indoors has the advantage that they do not need a long time for the growth phase, they can be sent into flower early.

Sending sativas into flower: Sativas can be sent into flowering from the third pair of leaves, i.e. from a plant height of approx. 10cm, if a final height of 1.30-1.60m is to be reached.

Sativa cultivationThe flowering time for sativas is usually much longer than for indicas. They have an average flowering time of 9-12 weeks and can grow very tall.
Sativas still grow upwards during the flowering period, whereby they can gain up to 300% in height. This is because the number of hours of light per day does not change significantly between winter and summer near the equator. That is why sativas always grow and flower at the same time in their environment of origin.
Sativas tend to form fewer and more slender leaves than indicas. Sativa flowers can grow very large, but they usually do not become as compact as those of indicas. Sativas and Sativa dominant varieties Higher temperatures can and a higher humidity tolerant than Indicas, so they are a good choice especially for indoor growing in summer when it easily threatens to get too warm in the growroom.

A successful sativa grow from seed to harvest. Here are the 7 best tips:

  1. There are sativas that finish faster than other sativas and that have been specially bred for indoor growing. Therefore, it is recommended to choose especially the fast sativa varieties for indoor growing. Below we have compiled some of the best.
  2. When sativas are grown from seed, it is easy to be deceived. In the vegetative phase, they are very relaxed, especially in the beginning, and only slowly grow in size. However, it is precisely these hesitant sativas that begin to literally explode in growth as soon as the light is switched to 12/12. You should take this into account right from the start and choose a sufficiently large pot. For indoor sativas, a 30L pot can always be used. This even makes sense if space allows. This supports healthy growth and the plants can develop fully and deliver the best yields without being blocked. Here too, a 15-20cm layer of expanded clay should be filled into the bottom of the pot for drainage. Sativas also find waterlogging absolutely unpleasant.
  3. If sativas are grown from cuttings, they can be sent into flower quite soon after they have taken root (after 3-4 days) to keep the height growth under control. If sativas get too big and tall in your grow box, you can work with carefully tying them down and a Plant net to keep them in check. This will also ensure optimal and even illumination of all flowering tips. See more at: Scrolling.
  4. Sativas have a high light requirement. The more light they get, the higher and more potent their yields will be. However, the plants should not be exposed to temperatures higher than 29° C maximum, humidity should be 55%-60% RH.
  5. Even though sativas grow like crazy, they have a relatively low fertiliser requirement and should be fertilised less than indicas. With sativas, fertilise only every 2nd or 3rd time with soil, otherwise also use fertiliser cautiously and less than the manufacturer recommends. Sativas are very sensitive and have a delicate structure, they can easily be overfertilised, which they do not forgive and leads to poor development.
  6. Sativas produce most of their resin when maturing. If you gradually reduce the lighting time to eventually 8 hours in the last two weeks of flowering, you will help the plant to mature and favour the resin production.
  7. Sativas often have very large and airier flowers after drying than indicas. Sativa flowers are lighter than indica flowers when dried.
