Growing, varieties and strain reviews

Jack Herer - unbeaten winner and classic

Jack Herer from Sensi Seeds is one of the strongest strains in the world and has been convincing the grower world for 20 years. Jack Herer has won the most prizes and awards in all cups and is one of the most popular strains ever. The strain is named after Jack Herer, the legendary US hemp activist and author of 'The Emperor wears no Clothes'. His deep involvement and book have contributed to the understanding of cannabis as the most valuable resource of mankind.

The unique and extremely successful blend of tropical sativa highs and massive indica highs, make her a first-class elite strain that every grower should experience for themselves. Jack Herer by Sensi Seeds has a huge resin production and covers all the buds with a thick layer of crystals.

JAck Herer, medical Marijuana

The plant has a complex genetic background that allows the balance of sativa and indica. The strain comes as 4 phenotypes, where breeders of mothers can choose exactly the phenotype that is best for them. Three of the four main phenotypes of Jack Herer are Sativa dominant, while the fourth has an Indica typical growth pattern: fast growing and at the same time relatively compact, with a bushy and stocky growth structure and very hard and compact buds. In mild climates like Spain, Jack Herer develops into small trees outdoors, ensuring a large harvest.

Indoors, clones can be intensively managed to achieve high yields in small spaces. The height of sativa dominant phenotypes can be controlled indoors by initiating flowering early.

Carefully tended mother plants will produce clones for years without any reduction in quality or vigour. When viewed under a microscope, the green of the leaves is almost completely covered by a forest of bulbous, clear resin glands. The four main phenotypes of Jack Herer, all show a mix of indica and sativa characteristics. When working with sativa dominant hybrids of Jack Herer, clones can be sent into flower as soon as they have roots. The small plants will then grow quite a bit in size as the flowering progresses.

The different phenotypes of Jack Herer:

The most obvious difference between the Jack Herer phenotypes is the growth pattern. Some phenotypes are more sativa-influenced while others are more indica-heavy. The phenotypes were developed by Sensi Seeds with:

  • Jack Herer phenotype A
  • Jack Herer phenotype B
  • Jack Herer phenotype C
  • Jack Herer phenotype D named.

Phenotype-A:

  • shows strong sativa characteristics in its growth
  • a balanced mixture of large and at the same time fat, dense flowers
  • the calyxes are very resinous, inflated and large
  • The effect is extremely fast and very strong.
  • forms a huge headbud surrounded by innumerable flowers
  • approx. 70 days flowering time
  • reaches a final height of 80-180cm.
  • the most potent and strongest phenotype of Jack Herer. Growers who are looking for strength should select a mother from this variety.

Phenotype-B:

  • is Indica dominant
  • grows rather compact and stocky, but becomes significantly larger than a pure Indica.
  • gains 100%-200% in height during the flowering period.
  • Ready for harvest after only 60 days of flowering
  • Forms dense, uniform and large flowers and a large headbud
  • strong and intense indica effect
  • reaches a height of 50-100cm indoors.
  • Aroma: sweet, citrus, pine note

Phenotype-C:

  • strongly influenced by Sativa,
  • many common characteristics with phenotype-A
  • Flowering time 70 days
  • Gain in height during the flowering phase: up to 300% and more!
  • smaller calyxes than phenotype-A
  • produces the largest flowers of all phenotypes
  • High resin production
  • spicy sweet aroma
  • high-energy high, the most stimulating of all the variants

Phenotype-D:

  • produces flowers like an Indica: dense and very compact
  • Gains plenty of height during flowering like a sativa
  • most extreme resin production of all phenotypes leads to a silvery coating of the buds
  • excellent for the production of extracts because of the high resin content
  • forms only a few branches, the plants of this type or clones can be placed very close together.
  • proves most efficient when kept indoors at a height of 30-80cm.
  • Taste: spicy, similar to hashish
  • Flowering time 60 days
  • physical effects, stone

Jack Herer, Sensi Seeds

Professional growers and breeders of medical marijuana spend some time to select the most suitable Jack Herer phenotype and get an ideal mother out of it. They achieve more potent and higher yields. After all, the initial longer time spent produces fast, consistent and reliably high results.

All phenotypes of Jack Herer produce lush, high-potency yields of super-strong, high-quality grass. However, it is very rare for Jack Herer weed to enter the commercial market. So most buds are consumed by the growers themselves - there are just some things money can't buy.

A typical characteristic of all Jack Herer phenotypes is the two-sided long-lasting potency of the strain: on the one hand a stratospheric high in the head and on the other hand perfected with a breath-taking body buzz in the style of an earthquake. Consumers have to seriously reckon with losing the ground under their feet. Which, by the way, can be very pleasant if you're floating in high clouds head-wise 😉
