What is Haze?

What is Haze, cannabis strains, strain reports, all about cannabis

Haze is a cannabis strain that is very popular at the moment. However, on the street and even in coffee shops, you usually don't get real Haze under this name. The extremely long flowering time and the rather low yield make pure Haze strains quite unattractive for commercial cultivation. The term is also increasingly used for pure sativas.

What is Haze?

Haze was bred in California in the 1970s. It is originally a pure sativa with genes from Colombia, Mexico, Thailand and South India. The first Haze strains came to Europe at the end of the 70s and became popular here quite quickly. However, pure Haze has an enormous disadvantage: because of their extremely long flowering time of often more than 100 days, Haze' can only be harvested in mid to late November. This is too late for most parts of Europe, so they are only recommended for the extreme south of our continent, and even there there are frequent crop failures. Pure Haze varieties are also rather unsuitable for the growroom, here too the long flowering period combined with comparatively measly yields makes them unprofitable given today's energy costs. Another disadvantage of the very long cycle is the associated susceptibility to pests and diseases. Although sativas are generally quite resistant to mould, the older a plant gets, the easier it is for parasites to spread and cause damage.

Therefore, breeders quite quickly started to cross Indica genes into the pure Haze strains. This resulted in countless Haze hybrids, most of which offer the effects of the typical Haze, but have a shorter flowering time and higher yields than the pure varieties. Examples of this are e.g. Super Silver Haze, Skunk Haze or G13 Haze.

Haze strains are not very easy to grow, they don't forgive big temperature differences and also react quite easily to fluctuations in nutrient levels. The more sativa parts the strain has, the more experience is needed for cultivation. We have compiled useful tips under Growing Haze - 10 tips for cultivation compiled.

Haze effect and aroma

Haze has a lot of THC and very little CBD. It is known and famous for its psychedelic and euphoric, activating effects, which is why some call it "ampheta weed".

When larger amounts of Haze are consumed, daydreams often arise, one begins to occupy oneself mentally with the most diverse things and gets a real creativity kick. Haze-grass has a strong psychedelic effect and expands the senses. Nevertheless, most Haze strains induce a pleasantly light relaxation that does not make you tired. Therefore, they are also suitable for use during the day.

The taste and smell of Haze is sweet, fruity, lemony and often contains an earthy note.

Here are some famous and excellent Haze strains:
