Chocolope by DNA Genetics is a multi-award winning cannabis strain that was voted Best Strain 2007 by High Times Magazine. Just last weekend, it won 1st place for Best Outdoor Strain at Spannabis 2014. But not only her many awards, but also her enormous medicinal potential paired with a wonderful aroma, make her a special marijuana variety.

Backgrounds

The genetics of Chocolope are a cross of Chocolate Thai, a landrace sativa from Thailand, with a Cannalope Haze father. Chocolate Thai delivers one of the most potent sativa highs available, but requires at least 14 weeks of flowering time and also has only moderate yields. So DNA Gentics added genes from Cannalope Haze (a cross between Haze Brothers and a Mexican Sativa landrace), a stable Sativa with similar effects but a much shorter flowering period and abundant yields. Then the most time-consuming part began, selected plants were backcrossed with Chocolate Thai. After several years of breeding, Don and Aaron, the two breeders behind DNA, had reached their goal, they had a stable sativa that flowers relatively short and carries both the aroma and the effect of the Chocolate Thai.

Taste and effect of the Chocolope

The aroma of Chocolope is one of its outstanding features. It has a very strong grapefruit smell with sweet undertones. The taste is characterised by honeydew melon with a strong shot of chocolate and a light tea note, an experience for every palate.

It is not surprising that with the mixture of several Haze strains, the effect is clearly cerebral and shows few physical influences. The effect immediately calms the nerves and gently builds up a stimulating, energetic effect. Thus, the use of Chocolope is also possible during the day.

Chocolope has a wide range of uses as a medicinal cannabis. Because of its nerve-calming yet stimulating effect, it is used as medicinal cannabis for depression, ADHD, multiple sclerosis (MS), anorexia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Due to its sativa effect, it improves attention, creativity and concentration, while at the same time stimulating the appetite.
