Soapnut & Cannabis A perfect combination for cannabis shampoos and much more

Soap nuts (Sapindus mukorossi) are the shells of the fruit of the soap nut tree. It belongs to the soap tree family and is mainly found in Asia. Soap nuts have been used for washing in India and Pakistan for centuries and are incredibly versatile and useful. They do not harm groundwater and do not contain chemicals like other detergents. Soap nut is therefore particularly suitable for people with sensitive skin.

Like cannabis, soap nut is a renewable resource, is biodegradable and can be easily composted after use. But soap nuts can do much more: they can easily compete with chemical products in the cosmetic field, they can be used to naturally disinfect objects and the environment, and many people use soap nuts as a natural and organic alternative to conventional detergents. The soap nut is said to have an antifungal effect.

The shells of the soap nuts are excellent for washing hair. Homemade shampoos with soap nut and cannabis effectively combat dandruff for a long time, give a beautiful shine and strengthen the hair. The hair is easy to comb and less greasy.
Soap nuts are available dried and are later activated with water. They therefore do not need any additional preservatives and only need to be stored dry.

Basic waschnut cannabis liquid for skin and hair

This basic mixture of soap nuts and cannabis is easy to make yourself:

Ingredients:

  • 50 soap nuts (cut into halves)
  • some zest of untreated lemon and orange (optional)
  • 720 ml water
  • 5 drops of highly concentrated cannabis oil/CBD oil
  • 2 drops of essential oil that you like (optional, e.g. rosemary oil, thyme oil, orange oil, grapefruit oil, clove oil, lemongrass oil, lavender oil).
  • 1g crushed dried cannabis flowers

Soap nuts do not naturally foam as much as chemically produced shampoos, so you have to help a little. A good trick is to use a milk frother, which can produce large amounts of foam. Soap nuts have an earthy, slightly sweet smell.

First, wash the soap nuts in a metal sieve and put them in a bowl. Then add the citrus peels and the crushed cannabis.

Optionally, the following can also be added at this point:

+ vanilla pod, crushed
+ 2 dried clove blossoms, dried rose blossoms or dried herbs of your choice
+ 2g Buddha fingers (peel)
+ 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, puréed

Bring the water to the boil and pour it over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Everything should be covered. Now leave the whole thing covered overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.

Then heat this mixture on the stove at medium heat for about 15 minutes. Using a hand tamper or similar, crush the soap nuts and thus release the saponin. The soap nuts are now swollen by absorbing water. The mixture is set aside for 2 or more hours until it has cooled down.

Now the mixture is filtered through a fine-mesh sieve. Finally, add the drops of cannabis oil and other essential oils as desired and mix well again. Pour this mixture into nice glass containers and store it in the refrigerator until it is not needed.

Hint:

If any cannabis spa mix or homemade cannabis cream suddenly shows changes, gets a funny or bad smell or has not been in the fridge or freezer for several hours, better throw it away.
