OG Kush and its high content of limonene
The cannabis strain OG-Kush contains a particularly high proportion of the terpene limonene. Limonene is one of the most important terpenes in citrus fruits as well as in cannabis. Limonene is responsible for the intense lemony, sour and fresh taste and aroma of cannabis and citrus fruits.
It is clinically relevant because it is known to dissolve gallstones, brighten mood and improve reflux disorders. Limonene has even been shown to destroy breast cancer cells in laboratory experiments. Limonene also has an antimicrobiological effect and is able to kill certain bacteria.
Effects of limonene

- antibacterial
- Helps relieve stress
- mood-lifting
- anti-carcinogenic
- anit-fungal (against fungal diseases)
- anti-depressant
Cannabis researcher Russo discussed the interaction of terpenes with cannabinoids in the treatment of numerous conditions such as depression, substance dependence, cancer, epilepsy, infections and inflammation. Terpenes, similar to cannabinoids, can be effective orally, smoked and also topically applied (externally). It is assumed that terpenes and cannabinoids reinforce each other in a synergetic way and that positive effects are intensified accordingly in combination.
To the OG Kush Strain

OG Kush is a rather stocky cannabis strain that typically grows large dark green leaves and grows like a Christmas tree. It has an indoor flowering time of about 8 weeks and develops very hard and dense buds with lots of resin. The harvests are huge with 600g per m², outdoors 500g per plant can be harvested in early October. Because of its above-average resin production, OG Kush can be used to produce medicinal concentrates with a high THC and limonene content.
