Growreport: Critical Jack by Dinafem - a real yield monster

Critical has long been a very popular and well-known cannabis strain in Spain, much like Skunk #1 in the mid-80s in the Netherlands. These two strains even triggered a real grow boom.

The Skunk #1 played a decisive role in the creation of the Critical. After all, one genetic half comes from Skunk. The other half is from Big Bud. Both parents are legends in the cannabis world and classic marijuana strains that convinced many growers.

Dinafem also started to include Critical in their breeding programme in order to further optimise this strain from a breeding point of view. The Skunk content of the strain is relatively high, because Big Bud also contains half Skunk#1 genetics. The strain name Critical+ was intended to express the further development of Dinafem, which is why the strain was released under this name. In Spain, the cannabis strain was met with great enthusiasm and quickly became very popular. It wasn't long before this strain was crossed with a famous and great partner: the legendary Jack Herer from Sensi Seeds.

The sativa dominant Jack Herer was created from basic and classic strains, namely a Northern Lights, a Skunk and a Haze. The result of crossing Critical+ with a Jack Herer was named Critical Jack by Dinafem.

Critical Jack contains lots of old-school genetics and is at the same time an extremely potent, energetic and vigorous strain. It is 60% sativa and 40% indica. At the end of the flowering period, she delivers huge yields of very large and heavy buds. In only 60 days of flowering, she produces yields that amaze many growers. When the plants mature, there is a veritable explosion of flower growth. The production of resin crystals, which cover all the buds with a thick layer, is equally large.

With an astonishing yield of 625 g/m², she is one of the varieties that produce the biggest harvests - she gets the best out of indoor growing. In addition, it has a high resistance to pests and mould (both indoors and outdoors).

Outdoors, Critical Jack develops into a large, magnificent plant that matures in late September/early October and produces up to 1200g yield per plant.

When we look at the effects, we notice a strong high, triggered among other things by a high THC content of 20%. The effect is perfectly balanced, stimulating and gives a floating feeling, at the same time its high includes relaxing indica effects. The aromas are mainly fruity and can also include a slight incense and pine note.

Prices:

At the Copa Unión Cannábica Latino Americana 2016, she was named best sativa strain. At the Hempcon Cup San Bernardino 2015, she won as BHO extract in the category "Best Shatter".

With the Testgrow, 3 seeds are germinated, which sprout extremely quickly and already within 2 days. The plants start to branch already at an early stage and grow vigorously and quickly. The leaves are sativa-typically long and slender.

After a growth spawl of approx. 4 weeks, the plants are already nicely bushy and have reached a height of 50-60 cm. The plants are very similar to each other and show a high degree of homogeneity.

It is now time to change the light to 12/12 lighting. After just a few days of the changeover, the pre-blooms are already showing. It will continue at the same speed: after just 2 weeks, the plants will be covered with countless flowers.

After 4 weeks of flowering we can already see puffy and white glowing flowers. The elongation is already complete and did not turn out as blatant as one would normally expect from a sativa. The plants have stable and strong branches that can carry the big flowers well.

Another week later, the flowers are pumping up and have now formed countless resin glands. The plants clearly show that they are real beauties. The flowers are getting bigger all the time and the flower/leaf ratio is excellent. The buds develop an extraordinary amount of trichomes and form a spectacular fruity sweet aroma. The soft and fruity smoke is given that special extra by the slight incense note.

Exactly after 65 days of flowering, all plants were ripe for harvesting and impressively covered with flowers. The plants had reached a height of 80-85 at this point. In the last two weeks of the flowering period, the resin production intensified again.

Its resistance to mould is extremely helpful, so there is no need to worry about the enormously large and dense buds. Nevertheless, one should keep the humidity as low as possible during flowering and especially towards the end of the flowering period, because the buds simply have a remarkable size and density.

Harvesting was quick and hardly complex. The buds were easy to manicure and had few small leaves. The buds smelled fruity, sweet and had a slightly spicy note.
Critical Jack produces really good sativa-grass, whose effect sets in quickly and expands the senses. After a few puffs, one feels floatingly light while being seized by a euphoria boost. It also provides a pleasant physical relaxation and helps to combat pain. It can be grown very well indoors and outdoors. Cuttings develop quickly and quickly form a strong root system.

Critical Jack has taken the best of Sativa and Indica: she brings sunshine to the mind and warmth to the body over a long period of time. She produces weed that tastes extremely delicious, matures quickly and delivers huge yields. She is an excellent strain that delivers what she promises and will delight experienced growers and beginners alike.
