Cannabis Rum, Weed Rum

Weed Rum is quite easy to make and can be used for many infused cannabis dishes and cocktails.

If the weed you want to use is still a little damp, it should first be dried in the oven at 75° C for 3 minutes before proceeding to the next step. This will help release more THC.

Ingredients:

  • 8 g dried cannabis flowers or 16 g small resinous leaves
  • 750 ml brown or white rum, e.g. Strohrum (Vol. 80%)

This is how it's done:

  1. The cannabis flowers or leaves are bruised and dried in an oven at 75° C for 1 hour and dexcarboxilized.
  2. The dried and crushed cannabis is then filled into a large glass bottle along with the rum.
  3. The sealed bottle is stored in a dark and cool place for 4 days. During this time, shake the rum mixture vigorously 2x every day.
  4. On the 4th day, the bottle with the rum-cannabis mixture is opened and placed open, i.e. without lid, in a water bath with 60° C hot water (not hotter!!!) for 20 minutes. The water level of the water bath should be below that of the alcohol mixture. To keep the temperature constant at 60° C during this time, a hot plate (for low temperatures) is particularly suitable. It's best to turn on the fume hood, because otherwise you'll feel quite queasy beforehand. Alcohol vapors are also highly flammable, so ensure good ventilation.
  5. After the 20 minutes, the mixture is filtered through a fine sieve to get the plant and fiber parts out. The weed rum is ready! It should be stored in a cool and dark place, so that cannabinoids can not be degraded by light or heat.
