With cuttings from a female cannabis plant, it is 100% guaranteed that the cutting will also become a female cannabis plant. The cutting is an exact genetic copy of the mother plant. Therefore, not only the sex is the same, but also the yield, the height and the quality of the plant. The clone of a mother plant is absolutely identical to it. Therefore, it is very important to choose the mother plant carefully and only take a vigorous plant.

Successful cloning requires cleanliness, warmth and a healthy mother plant. Please make sure that your hands and the tools as well as the environment are clean and purified to avoid infestation by germs or mould spores if possible.

This is what is needed:

- Aso-called mother plant that has already formed about 3 nodes, if you want to take the main shoot of the plant as a cutting.
If you take cuttings from the main shoots, they should be at least 10 cm long.
- a clean cutting tool: e.g. a fresh razor blade or a small scalpel
- a clean base
- a rooting agent. Here I take Clonex
- Greenhouse: size and quantity depending on the number of cuttings. Usually a small indoor greenhouse is used.
- Rooting medium: Depending on your preference. Some swear by Rock woolothers prefer Jiffy's or similar.
- – a pair of scissors + clean glass with clean water

- Possibly a heated greenhouseor heating mat for growing cuttings.

This is how it is done

Step 1: Get the cleaned tools ready, preferably disinfected with pure alcohol. Soak the rock wool blocks in water, let them drain and also lay them out ready. It is best to use water with a pH value of approx. 6.0 and an EC value of approx. 0.6. If you do not have the appropriate water, use tap water. Measuring instruments If you do not have any, it is best to use tap water mixed one to one with rainwater.

Step 2: If there is no hole in your rockwool blocks, drill one with a cleaned and disinfected knitting needle. Squeeze the rockwool blocks slightly beforehand so that excess water escapes.

Step 3: You can place the rockwool blocks in the heated greenhouse to warm them up (if available). This increases the likelihood that the cuttings will take root later.

Step 4: For a cutting take a 10cm-15cm long cutting from a shoot tip or a branch from a healthy mother plant. The cuttings are always cut above a pair of leaves. Each cut cutting should be placed immediately in the glass with water, because it must not be in contact with oxygen for too long. Make sure that the cut is in the water and does not draw air, otherwise the cutting will die.

Step 5: Now take a cutting out of the water glass, cut it off at an angle at the bottom and immediately dip the fresh cut into the root gel (approx. 2 cm deep). Then put it straight into the damp rock wool block and place it in the small greenhouse. The greenhouse can be filled with moist perlite beforehand so that the rockwool blocks always stay well moist and are properly embedded in it. If the cuttings have very large leaves, cut them off halfway, i.e. shorten them or, if there are too many leaves, remove some of them.

Step 6: In the following days, the greenhouse should be ventilated three times a day for a few minutes. The climate should be warm and humid. Spray the plants lightly with a little water approx. 1x per day, it is best to use a plant sprayer. The greenhouse should be kept warm and illuminated with special Fluorescent tubes lighting for plants. It is advisable to use a heated indoor greenhouseheating system, which is not only cheaper than buying a heating mat and greenhouse separately, but also works perfectly and brings a lot. This significantly increases the success rate and the time until the first roots appear. The king method is one aeroponic cuttings boxwhich is available for purchase in its entirety. Here, the cuttings are constantly sprayed from below with a very light nutrient solution and get an enormous number of roots in an incredibly short time. These small systems are now available for well under 100 euros. The results speak for themselves, because an ideal oxygen supply and absorption of nutrients is guaranteed.

Do not place the cuttings under direct sunlight or the sodium vapour lamp.. This would dry them out too quickly, as they do not yet have roots. After a few days, you can open the ventilation slits on the propagator.

Step 7: After about 10 - 14 days (in some cases Aeroponic cutting boxes earlier) the first roots appear. As soon as the cutting is well rooted, it can be placed under the sodium vapour lamp.
