Growing on Grodan blocks is quite easy; the blocks fit ideally into each other.
The Grodan Single Block System (SBS) and the AO growing blocks fit into all available culture blocks. After rooting, the rockwool blocks are either placed on mats, in other substrates or directly into the growing system (e.g. ebb and flow table or NFT system).

The Grodan rockwool growing cubes are characterised by their high air permeability and homogeneity. They are a proven planting medium for germination and root development. The structure and shape of the rockwool cubes make them very easy to handle. All cubes have a uniform structure, strength and arrangement of fibres. This means a uniform water and nutrient supply, which has a positive effect on germination and root development.
The vertical structure gives the propagation cubes the optimum resistance. An advantage is that the cubes retain their shape even after transplanting, creating a good bond with the planting cube and thus ensuring successful further root formation. For a good water/oxygen ratio, the pores in the cubes are arranged in mixed large and small sizes. The special structure creates an even distribution of nutrient solution throughout the cube. Once rooted, the growing cubes can be placed in all conventional planting media, such as coco substrate, soil or rock wool.

Juan's special tip:: Rockwool cubes are not pre-fertilised, i.e. for fast and uniform germination and root development, the nutrient solution should be lightly fertilised(EC 0.5-1.0; pH 6.0) and ideally root stimulators such as Ecolizer Root Up, Canna Rhizotonic, BioBizz Root Juice should be added.
