Control of the pH value

• pH-Down in powder form

For plants to develop optimally and produce large yields, the right pH value is a decisive factor. A high pH value promotes cation uptake, a low one anion uptake: The set value is always a compromise between two extremes. A range of 5.5 to 6.5 is usually recommended. Only when the pH is set correctly are minerals available to plants and chelates stable.

With pH-Down by Terra Aquatica, the exact control of the pH value and buffering for hydroponics, coco substrate and soil is successful. PH-Down does more than a pure acid and at the same time keeps the nutrient solution in the right balance. The combination of 3 different acids lead to optimal results: Phosphoric and nitric acid take on the main task of regulating the pH value at the beginning. Their ratio is adjusted so that it has no influence on the N/K ratio in the growth and flowering phase and no residues form on the tank surface, which happens with phosphoric acid alone in hard water. Then biological citric acid takes over the rest. Thanks to its buffering effect, it balances out pH fluctuations that occur during the course, keeps the nutrient solution stable and compensates for possible calcium surpluses in the water.
