Ebb and flow systems are based on watering from below by flooding the substrate with a nutrient solution. This nutrient solution then flows back into the water tank as soon as the pump is switched off. The inflow and outflow of the nutrient solution causes an excellent oxygen supply in the root area. The GHE system is the right choice for beginners who are looking for an easy-to-use and technically straightforward hydroponic system and at the same time ideal for experienced growers who want a modulable and adaptable system. Both ordinary plastic pots and lattice pots can be used, whereby lattice pots are somewhat more expensive but also have the advantage that the nutrient solution can penetrate better.
