Earth

If soil is used for cultivation, it should be loose and airy so that sufficient oxygen reaches the roots. The soil should ideally contain perlite, which ensures good aeration of the soil and at the same time can store water well. Soil is the most commonly used medium and is best suited for beginners, as soil does not react as strongly to fertiliser errors or undersupply as is the case with other planting substrates.

The soil should never be loamy or stony. It is recommended to use special cannabis soil that is adapted to the needs of cannabis plants and is also free of pests and fungal diseases. Otherwise, you can also use a high-quality branded plant soil from a garden shop. You should not skimp on this.

The more space the plant has available, the bigger and bushier it can become.

Never reuse the soil if it has already been used for other plants. The soil would be too "salinated" by reusing it. During the individual phases of development, the plant strongly leaches out the soil and is then used up. In addition, the risk of pests and fungal diseases spreading increases.

The optimum pH value for the water is 6-7, which is important so that the plant can absorb the nutrients ideally.

Perlite:

Perlite are volcanic rocks that are foamed with heat. Due to its large and irregular surface structure, it can ideally store nutrients and water. In addition, it serves to aerate the soil. It also helps prevent salinisation by regulating soil moisture. So it is suitable for growers who want to work with a lot of fertiliser. Good cannabis soil already contains perlite in the right proportions. You can also buy it separately and mix it into the soil yourself.

Peat Jiffys

Peat Jiffys are small tablets of pressed peat that swell many times over when water is added. They are often used for growing cuttings or seeds and are easy to handle.

Cocos (Coco)

Purified coconut fibres can also be used as a planting medium for cultivation. Coco soil is peat-free and can also absorb water and nutrients well. The air content in the soil is high, which is beneficial for the plants. Coconut earth is offered pressed as so-called coconut quelling earth or Coco Soil. Through the addition of water, the quelled earth achieves a 5-6 times higher volume. Bag or as Slab for hydroponic systems

Rock wool

Rock wool is a popular medium. It can be used for raising seeds, cuttings and young plants, or it can be used throughout the life of the plant. In rockwool there is an optimal ratio of moisture and air, which contributes to ideal root formation and ensures a good supply of nutrients. Rock wool is also used primarily in hydroponic systems and is available in blocks of various sizes and in flake or cube form.

 Expanded clay

Granulated expanded clay is also a popular growing medium. The loose layering of clay balls provides an excellent supply of oxygen. The roots can spread unhindered. The fertiliser used should be especially suitable for expanded clay. Expanded clay granules do not contain any nutrients themselves. So-called moisture gauges are used to measure the moisture.
