When does cannabis start to flower?

For outdoor grow, the plant starts to flower when the days get shorter (so about 12 hours of daylight per day). For indoor grow, when the lighting times are reduced to 12 hours, followed by a 12-hour dark period. As soon as the grow lamp is set to 12-hour exposure time, the plant starts to adjust to the flowering phase. After about 2 weeks, you can see the first scattered small hairs on the leaf axils. The first small flower buds gradually form. The plant starts to form small buds.

During the flowering phase, the plant needs more potassium and phosphorus, so the fertilisation scheme needs to be changed. The flowering phase lasts between 5 and 10 weeks and ends with the harvest of the cannabis plants.

In the following weeks, the buds form fully. It is important that all buds get the best possible light yield. The plant can be turned slightly every 2 days to further strengthen the stems. Make sure to provide the plant with sufficient nutrients during this phase in the form of special flower fertiliser for cannabis (e.g. Hesi, Canna, Advanced...). This is usually available in liquid form in the grow shop. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

It is best to fertilise every second watering. Other plant fertilisers are not suitable for cannabis, as they do not meet the special requirements.

Clean the grow chamber once a week to prevent mould, pests and diseases from developing. Remove wilted leaves and do not store used soil nearby. The relative humidity can be around 60-70% at the beginning of flowering, which is a little higher. At the end of flowering it should be 40-50% to prevent and avoid mould.
