Red clover is an excellent green manure for field crops and has long been popular as a companion plant. It adds lots of nitrogen to the soil and is simply tilled under for soil improvement. Red clover loosens compacted soils, improves drainage and protects the soil from wind erosion and strong sunlight. Clover is a representative of the so-called legumes. These have the special property that the nodule bacteria on their roots can bind nitrogen from the atmosphere and bring it into the soil. Clover forms a natural and living mulch layer for your cannabis plants.
Red clover has long been discouraged from gardens, even though it is an important food source for bees and many beneficial insects, and has numerous other benefits.
