The Black Russian tomato is an old Russian variety with medium-sized red-purple fruits. One tomato can weigh up to 300g. The fruits have a spicy and sweet aroma. The high-yielding variety grows up to 160cm tall and makes a good screen for cannabis plants.
The tomatoes grow in large numbers and become heavy, so the plants need extra support with bamboo poles or trellises. The plants should be regularly thinned out and side shoots removed. The pre-cultivated plantlets should only be put outside after the last frost. Tomato plants repel mosquitoes and other insects from your garden. Besides, the tomatoes look good in your salad.
